NASA has released a program that lets you hear your voice on Mars. You can officially use Web site sections.
The program is based on Mars data obtained using the Perseverance rover equipped with two microphones. This data includes sound recording, atmospheric and soil assessments.
“If you were standing on Mars, you would hear a quieter, lighter version of what you heard on Earth. The atmosphere on Mars is completely different, and some of the sounds we’re used to on Earth will be almost inaudible, such as whistles, bells or bird sounds. When we hear sound, we feel our eardrums vibrate. This vibration is due to waves reaching the ears from the sound source through the atmosphere. The atmosphere of Mars has a different composition, temperature and density,” he said.
Therefore, it will take a little longer for the sounds made in the Martian atmosphere to reach a person. The Martian atmosphere is about 100 times less dense than Earth’s, so sounds are much quieter. Also, Mars’ atmosphere is 96% carbon dioxide, so it will absorb high-frequency sounds over long distances.
