The Russian Ministry of Defense showed footage of the combat work of the Mi-28N Night Hunter attack helicopters and army aviation fire support groups, covering attack vehicles from Mi-8 helicopters. Video released telegram channel sections.
It was noted that during the combat flight of the crew of the army aviation of the Western Military District in the zone of special military operations, the command posts and armored vehicles of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed.
The footage shows Mi-28 and Mi-8 taking off, firing and landing. Also, one of the fighters of the fire support group talks about their mission.
According to him, if a combat helicopter is shot down, the support group will land and advance to rescue the pilots. In case of fire contact with the enemy, the group must “work on its own”. To do this, it includes a machine gunner and several light machine gunners.
Additionally, air fighters neutralize ground threats to helicopters.
“All the guys are on the alert, the attention is very serious because you have to look everywhere. The speed of the helicopter is high, when it goes, we pass very low,” he said.
He added that residents of Ukraine often wave at them “whole family” hands, and grandmothers baptized them as a blessing.
“We’re probably doing the right thing because people support us. It’s beautiful, of course. And what’s more, it helps a lot when you fly in a sortie, ”admitted the military.
