Spanish scientists from the National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) discovered a new mechanism that started the restoration of the liver a few minutes after the damage. The study was published scientifically magazine Nature.

During the experiments on mice, the team found that amino acid glutamate played a central role in the regeneration process. In acute damage to the liver, hepatocytes (liver cells) release glutamate into blood. It reaches the bone marrow in which immune cells activates – monocytes.

These cells turn into macrophages that begin to distinguish the growth factors that stimulate tissue restoration under the influence of glutamate and migrate to the liver.

“This is a complex and skillful mechanism. The liver literally calls“ helping help through blood and the whole process begins in minutes, Nab Nabil Juder explained.

Discovery offers several potential applications. For example, a glutam diet can accelerate healing after liver operations. In addition, it leads to a way to create new methods in cirrhosis treatment.

Scientists plan to examine how glutamate additives affect regeneration in people with liver resection. This may be a breakthrough in the treatment of one of the most common and dangerous consequences of a modern lifestyle.

Previously, researchers learned Fight with stable liver cancer.
