Shipping companies will have to put refueling cards non-working days. For the second time in recent months, police have arrested a former worker at a shipping company in Alicante who stole the vehicle’s refueling card. truck drove, used it to fill fuel tanks one euro per liter of gasoline and returned it. Police arrested both the former worker and four others who took advantage of the scam following the tempting offer, but there are six more who took advantage of the deception. The scam was committed in April and May and costs close to 60,000 euros.
The operation was carried out by Economic Crime Group Alicante Provincial Judicial Police Brigade, on a complaint from a shipping company. The detainee knew the business activities of the company he worked for, took a copy of the truck’s cabin and benefited from the hours when the vehicle was not operatingin the early morning and on holidays, to access its interior and get the refueling card.
After removing the card, he searched for the “customers” list made under it. excuse to be a relative of a shipping company owner. He said that if he didn’t use the refueling, he would lose the money, and it was because of the almost 50% discount on the fuel price. The ex-worker charged the refueling in cash and with a fraudulently stolen card that he paid customers for gas. In this way he earned one euro for every liter of fuel.
Those involved in the scam continued to go to the appointment the prisoner had scheduled for them, they refueled their vehicles and even filled the jugs. When the people’s transfer was over, the detainee returned to enter the company building and eventually used the copy of the truck key to drop the refueling card again to avoid arousing suspicion, even though the company became aware of the abnormal spending. .
The agents were tracking the original detainee, who tried to go undetected during the operation and entered the area where the truck was parked in another person’s vehicle. Investigators arrested the main suspect, who sold the fuel for one euro, and four others who took advantage of the scam.
