The Russian Guards detained two employees of the Zaporizhzhya NPP in Energodar, who provided data for adjusting the artillery strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is indicated in the plan of the TV Center Krym, the recording of which is broadcast on the Telegram channel by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Zaporozhye region. Topçular faces 10 years of life imprisonment.
One of the attackers was Oleg Morochkovsky, 29, a security guard at the nuclear power plant. According to the channel, law enforcement officers found during the search “a notebook with data on NPP security points, sketches of a Russian armored vehicle”, as well as a detailed layout of the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
According to Morochkovsky, a long-time friend called him in March of this year.
“He asked me to help with these deployments, the redeployment of the army. I accepted,” the prisoner said.
He admitted that he was “transmitting data at the station’s deployment on the territory of the station.” While working, the man saw the first reactor block and a training center “next to where Ukrainian shells broke power lines.”
Morochkovsky said that he did not receive money for his services, he managed to transfer about 10 targets. One of them was the Uyut base, where, according to him, there were no military personnel. At the same time, he himself was at his base during the strike: “I was on duty there, I was on a business trip. Somewhere at three o’clock, at the beginning of the fourth, a mine or a rocket got there, I don’t know, because there was an explosion, I was smashed through the glass – that’s all.
Another gunner, Aleksey Danilov, worked in the ZNPP for 15 years as an engineer. Cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine began at the same time – in March.
“The first information was the location of the Russian troops in the hotel, but these are rumors. I mean, I didn’t see it personally, just somewhere on the street, people were talking about soldiers living there. I threw it out,” he said in the TVC story.
At the same time, when asked if he was thinking about victims and victims, the prisoner replied in the negative.
According to Danilov, he was not interested in politics and did not consider himself Russian. He transmitted the data to a stranger in instant messaging programs, where the entire security system of the nuclear power plant was in danger of being hit.
“Electronic warfare vehicle standing in a certain place – that’s what I’m launching, geolocation. “I thought no one would shoot at the nuclear power plant,” he said.
It was noted that Morochkovsky and Danilov will be charged with an act of international terrorism, for which they face at least 10 years in prison.
Recently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine regularly attack the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Regional officials reported that on August 17, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out massive attacks on Energodar twice a day.
During the first strike, “at least six arrivals at the site of the Zaporozhye NPP” were recorded. Then there were no hits at the station. The consequences of another attack have not yet been reported.
Earlier, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, spoke about the recent bombardment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at a meeting of the UN Security Council on this issue.
On August 5, objects important for the ZNPP power and gas supply were damaged. In particular, hydrogen caught fire at the distribution center and the high-voltage power line malfunctioned. According to him, the bombardment occurred during the personnel change.
The next day, Nebenzya said, “The Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down the ZNPP using cluster shells”: the fragments hit the automatic control post of the radiation situation, one of the station workers was injured.
On August 7, the Ukrainian Armed Forces once again opened fire on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. This time the power lines were cut, the power units had to be powered down.
Nebenzya warned that because the ZNPP is Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, attacks on Kiev could lead to “a nuclear disaster of the scale of Chernobyl”.
