Heavy downpours and thunderstorms could cause simultaneous power outages in nine districts of the country’s North-West and Far East federal districts this week. This estimate was given by the All-Russian Research Institute of Civil Defense and Emergencies (VNII GOChS).

Storms are also expected in the Amur and Sakhalin regions, Trans-Baikal, Primorsky, Kamchatka and Khabarovsk regions, which can lead to interruptions in the power supply of individual settlements.

Elements will also play in the European part of Russia – Murmansk, Arkhangelsk regions and the Republic of Karelia.

Currently, the water content of the rivers of the Primorsky Territory already exceeds the norm by one and a half to two times. More heavy rainfall can cause lowlands to flood. Flooding may occur in the southern and southeastern parts of the region.

British meteorologists guess heavy rains and flooding after drought.
