Scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have found a way to shield the Earth from the Sun with the help of “space bubbles”. About reported on the official website of the university.

The researchers proposed creating a series of thin membranes resembling bubbles. By shielding the planet from the massive amounts of sunlight reaching Earth’s surface, it should solve the problem of greenhouse gases that alter the planet’s climate.

The membranes will reflect or absorb some of the sunlight. The team claims that if the amount of sunlight reaching Earth was reduced by just 1.5%, this would completely negate the effects of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions.

So far, it’s just an idea, and scientists haven’t figured out what to make these bubbles from, how to send them into space, and how they’ll work.
