According to the South Australian Institute of Health and Medical Research, vitamin D deficiency can lead to increased inflammation in the body. They talked about it in a magazine article. International Journal of Epidemiology.

Researchers analyzed records from around 295,000 people from the UK Biobank medical and genetic information repository and found a link between levels of vitamin D and C-reactive protein, a biomarker of inflammation in the body. C-reactive protein is produced in response to injury and infection, and levels have been found to be significantly elevated in people with vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamin D also has anti-inflammatory properties. Researchers suggest that removing its deficiency will also help deal with inflammation, but more research is needed to confirm this.

“We have repeatedly seen evidence of the health benefits of increasing vitamin D levels at very low levels, with little or no benefit in other people. These results highlight the importance of preventing clinical vitamin D deficiency and provide additional evidence for the vitamin’s broad spectrum of action.
