According to the publication, the incident occurred on the island of Iturup. A local resident and a 56-year-old tourist decided to go out into nature and headed towards the coast, where they stopped near the Grand Canyon. The men walked along the road and suddenly a bear jumped out at them.
The monster attacked a local resident, and the tourist tried to scare him. But the man’s actions only caused the animal to move on itself – the predator began to tear apart the visitor.
The bear then left the scene of the attack and the mauled tourist remained on the ground. His friend got into the car and asked for help.
When the tourist was hospitalized, doctors immediately decided to operate on him. The man’s condition is considered to be serious. A local resident was also injured and necessary assistance was provided. His life is not in danger.
