Israel has created its 144th squadron of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), a separate unit that will provide network intelligence to the IDF. This has been reported Israel National News.
The squadron will be stationed at Hatzor Air Base. It will be armed with the latest Spark drones, which will be part of the Storm Clouds lineup, a cloud-based drone-based control platform that should change battle scenarios.
Chief of Staff Lieutenant Colonel Aviv Kochavi noted that the 144th Fleet will embody all “innovative concepts” that will “change everything we have understood in the past” and “carry us into the future”.
“The reality on the battlefield is changing and the enemy is moving from civilian areas, making it difficult to detect and attack,” Kochavi said.
Previously reportedAn Israeli Air Force fighter jet and the country’s navy missile carrier intercepted three drones traveling from Lebanon towards the Israeli air border.
The UAVs were detected by detection systems and followed by ground control points throughout the flight.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the identification took place at an early stage and the targets were stopped at the “optimal operational point”.
