Against the background of global warming, devastating tropical cyclones ravaging the United States will change direction and may reach more northern latitudes. They will also affect the coasts of Western Europe and Britain. But they will not be able to reach Russia due to the peculiarities of its geographical location – climate change will prepare other “surprises” for Russians, said Vladimir Semenov, director of the Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, head of the Climatology Laboratory of the Geographical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Russia is a continental country located mostly in northern latitudes. And although the distribution area of Atlantic hurricanes will expand in the future, they still will not threaten Russia.

“In the most extreme case, hypothetically, hurricanes could reach the coast of Spain, for example. But of course they will not come to us from the western side,” Semenov assured.

He added that there is a possibility that typhoons may move towards the north, but this is not a big threat. For Russia, much more relevant are other natural variables, primarily convective climatic phenomena, which also pose a danger. These include showers, storms and hurricanes, which are already quite common across the country. The climatologist concluded that their number will increase significantly in the future.

Let us remind you that the speed of Hurricane Milton, which hit Florida, reached 160 km/h. Authorities were unable to accurately assess the damage, and large-scale rescue operations were not possible because the storm began at night. About 125 houses have already been demolished, more details – In the material “socialbites.ca”.

Formerly political scientist statedHurricane Milton will deprive Kamala Harris of the US presidency.
