Before her death, Raquel spent several days confined in a hidden chamber built inside her home in Villalbilla, a quiet town near Madrid. Her husband, César, a Hare Krishna devotee who used the name Ramaathis Mam, remains in custody as a suspect. He reported that Raquel had disappeared on August 31, but the Guardia Civil investigation shows that she never left the house and probably never left the two by two meter space where her body was found on September 8. The makeshift enclosure was discovered inside the living area after investigators entered the home and began cataloging what was present and what was missing. Neighbors did not notice anything unusual in the house, reinforcing the conclusion that the event unfolded largely within the couple’s private space.

One of the central pieces of evidence against César, who is being investigated for homicide or for inducing his wife to commit suicide, was a call Raquel made to the emergency number 112 on August 1. In the call, her voice is very soft, almost a thread, as she asks for help and says she believes she is experiencing a psychotic episode while insisting that she is not alone. The line goes dead after that moment. The inquiry has established that the call originated from the family home, a residence where only she and her husband lived, a detail that has raised questions about the timeline and the ability of others to account for her movements.

Other evidence surfaced when the Civil Guard analyzed the mobile phones recovered from the house on September 8. The most significant finding so far, reported by the crime desk of Prensa Ibérica, is that César sent at least two WhatsApp messages to his wife during the period she was believed to be missing. The messages, sent late in the evening, echo a pattern of devotion and concern: Do not forget to pray, Remember your prayers, and they end with a Hare Krishna mantra. César Suárez, born in Mieres, Asturias, and whose last known job was in a warehouse, wrote in his self published works that he signed as Ramaathis Mam, claiming to channel energies and receive messages from extraterrestrials, among other alleged powers.

Those mobile messages were also offered by Raquel’s husband when he reported her disappearance on September 4. They were presented as evidence that he did not know where his wife was and as a sign of his concern for her. In reality, neither Raquel nor her mobile phone left the family home. Her car, however, was parked less than 150 meters away from the residence, suggesting that she was not moving freely outside the house and casting doubt on the assertion that she had gone to visit her mother.

Investigation into the death of Raquel, a 54-year-old insurance salesperson with no children, continues. Near her body in the hiding space investigators found multiple blister packs of medications and a drink resembling tea that is being analyzed.

The autopsy will determine the cause and date of death. Based on what is known so far, it appears that her husband coexisted with the body for several days, while making authorities believe she had left the home to visit her mother.

With the available data, the case remains open and authorities continue to piece together the sequence of events inside the couple’s home as forensic tests proceed and more clues come to light.
