One in three Russians prefers online check-in (37%), a service that allows you to check in for a flight online. 58% of those who took advantage of this opportunity were Buzzers and 42% were millennials. This is shown by a study of the Kupibilet service, the results of which were studied by socialbites.ca.
“Selecting a specific seat on the plane was the most popular service among all generations; it was chosen by 59% of the survey respondents, of which 46% were millennials and 12% were bell ringers. Seats at the beginning of the cabin, up to the 10th row by the window, are especially quickly removed, as they save time when boarding and disembarking. Seats near emergency exits and with a large distance between seats are also often chosen. On average, a seat chosen independently by a passenger costs about 800 rubles,” shared Ekaterina Dolgikh, Marketing Director of Kupibilet.
The option to pay for additional luggage was purchased by 13% of respondents; Millennials use this service more often (9%) than ringtones (4%). Priority support, which provides access to expedited travel assistance, was chosen less frequently by only 4% of respondents, including 3% of Millennials and 1% of voicemailers. Ticket refunds were made by 3% of respondents; 2% of Millennials and 1% of ringtoneers.
The least-liked option was ordering extra food, chosen by 2.6% of survey respondents, 1.9% of voice prompters, and 0.7% of millennials. While standard meals are often included in the ticket price, some travelers choose to order special meals during their trip.1
“The average cost of a full package of services (online check-in, selection of a specific seat, payment for additional baggage, priority support, refund of purchased tickets, selection of special meals) is 8,100 rubles. Millennials are ready to pay an additional 3,000 rubles for comfort on average; they prefer to choose their seat, pay for additional baggage, priority support and refund of tickets. Buzzers are also ready to pay an additional 1,500 rubles on average, they mostly choose comfortable seats and pay for additional baggage,” Dolgikh added.
