Czech archaeologists from Jan Evangelista Purkynė University and Žip Museum discovered a treasure trove of Bronze Age weapons and jewellery. The artifacts are about 3,600 years old. The find was reported oppression Radio Prague International (RPI).

The hidden objects were found during excavations near the town of Budyne nad Ohrid, 56 kilometers northwest of the Czech Republic’s capital Prague.

Scientists found eight bracelets, two needles, eight axes and a spearhead on the ground.

According to experts, the axes found may have been used both as weapons and tools.

The team believes the treasure may have been found for two reasons: Either the objects served as offerings to the gods, or the objects’ owners hoped to protect them by hiding them from enemies or other threats.

Archaeologists said the artifacts indicate a high level of skill and technology in bronze casting and working in Central Europe 3,600 years ago. The exact cost of the find is still unknown, but preliminary estimates suggest it could be in the millions of Czech crowns. One million Czech crowns is equivalent to 3.6 million rubles at the exchange rate at the time of publication.
