The State Duma of the Russian Federation is preparing a law on the introduction of digital accounting of electric scooters in the country, the newspaper reported with reference to the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Transport Infrastructure Development Pavel Fedyaev. “News”.
The MP noted that the new norms could provide for the presence of special identification numbers in the form of two-dimensional matrix barcodes containing a large amount of information for all scooters sold in Russia. Buyers of personal mobility devices (PIMs) will be required to register these numbers in a special system.
Fedyaev expressed the opinion that the traffic police should not get involved in this, as such activities will significantly increase the load on their structures. Therefore, registration of electric scooters should be made a remote, convenient and accessible procedure.
The MP stressed that registered scooters could be equipped with unique codes to control their movements. Such codes, in conjunction with city CCTV cameras, would make it possible to track speeding SIM cards and bring their owners to justice.
