A new flare of the highest magnitude occurred on the Sun. This was reported by RIA News Citing Sergei Bogachev, head of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“Information has been received regarding an X-magnitude explosion, the largest currently occurring on the Sun,” he said.
According to him, the explosion in the star started around 10:05 Moscow time.
He noted that the flare most likely occurred in one of the regions still on the far side of the Sun, but already partially visible beyond the edge and moving towards Earth. The scientist emphasized that the impact of the explosion on our planet has been excluded so far because the center of the explosion is still very far from the Sun-Earth line.
