Thousands of people marched against the prime minister in the Spanish capital

Approximately 20 thousand citizens participated in the protest held in Madrid, the capital of Spain, against the leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party, Pedro Sanchez, who was re-elected as prime minister. The newspaper reports this El País.

The march was organized by the opposition People’s Party.

Protesters carried Spanish flags and chanted “Spain strikes back.”

According to People’s Party leader Nunez Feijoo, the primary goal of the protest is to defend democracy, the independence of the judiciary and free media.

This is not the first protest in the country. In the center of Madrid in December gathered 500 people protesting a possible amnesty for those who support Catalonia’s independence.
