On the afternoon of May 13, the Russian military shot down another unmanned aerial vehicle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) flying in the sky over the Belgorod region. Journalists were informed about this by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“At around 15:00 Moscow time, Kiev’s attempt to carry out a terrorist attack using a UAV was stopped,” the ministry said in a statement.

According to the ministry, the plane was destroyed by air defense systems operating in the Russian border region.

The Belgorod region is regularly subjected to drone strikes and rocket attacks by the Ukrainian army. The region borders the Kharkov region of Ukraine.

The region’s main city, Belgorod, also regularly publicizes the missile threat and asks residents to seek refuge or hide in windowless rooms inside their apartments. The alarm is declared both during the day and at night.

The shelling and attacks of Ukrainian UAVs on the Belgorod region have intensified since May 10 – in the early morning of this day, the Russian army began to conduct active operations on the border with the Kharkov region. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky also accepted Russian offensive actions near Kharkov.
