Ticks woke up in Moscow and the Moscow region. Researcher of the Department of General Ecology and Hydrobiology Vadim Maryinsky warned about this on the radio station “Moscow speaks”.
“The snow has melted, the ground has dried and become relatively warm, they can already start looking for prey,” the scientist said.
As a preventive measure, he recommended applying insect repellent to clothing before going outside.
“It’s important to spray repellent on your clothes when you go into the woods, and everything will be fine,” says Maryinsky.
According to the biologist, arthropods, as a rule, have an excellent sense of smell and hearing, and they prefer to wait for the receiver near paths and places where large animals pass.
“If you sit on the edge of the forest, they can easily crawl on you,” the publication says.
Before that, doctor Demyanovskaya saidHe says ticks can carry borreliosis (Lyme disease), whose symptoms in the early stages can resemble a cold.
