Another solar flare of the most powerful category X ionized the upper part of the Earth’s atmosphere. It was reported that the magnitude of the incident was 1.1 times portal Spaceweather refers to data from the Space Weather Prediction Center.

According to experts, the strength of the surge was enough to completely shut down shortwave radio communications in the Pacific Ocean and affected about half of the North American continent and most of Central America.

The event was accompanied by a massive plasma emission, a cloud of which would pass by Earth, thanks to which our planet was able to avoid a geomagnetic storm.

The source of the last flare was AR3615, a large sunspot that has been active in recent days. The other day it produced two medium-sized explosions of category M.

The abundance of back-to-back solar events has led scientists to speculate that the Sun may have entered an explosive era of peak activity known as a solar maximum, which appears to begin a year earlier than earlier estimates had predicted. But to know for sure, researchers will have to wait until our star calms down.
