Vitamin D also strengthens the immune system and helps reduce the risk of some diseases such as multiple sclerosis and diabetes.

Vitamin D deficiency negatively affects the production of testosterone, an important hormone for men. Apathy, bad mood, and loss of energy can also cause decreased libido in women. Other symptoms of deficiency in this dietary component include pain in the head, muscles, bones and joints, as well as a tingling sensation in the arms and legs.

Hillard stated that vitamin D deficiency can be compensated through supplements or dietary adjustments, and the proportion of mackerel, sardines, eggs and mushrooms in the diet can be increased.
