Coffee is linked to preventing bowel cancer

A study conducted by researchers at Imperial College London found that bowel cancer patients who drank two to four cups of coffee a day were significantly less likely to have a recurrence. Works of scientists were exhibited magazine International Journal of Cancer (IJC).

The study authors analyzed data from 1,719 patients with stage 1, 2 and 3 colorectal cancer. The results showed that drinking more than four cups of coffee per day was associated with a 32% lower risk of colorectal cancer recurrence compared to drinking less than two cups.

Additionally, the relationship between coffee consumption and all-cause mortality was found to be non-linear. The lowest risk of death was observed when drinking four cups of coffee a day.

However, scientists state that more research is needed to fully understand the effect of coffee on the prognosis of bowel cancer. The results of this study may serve as the basis for further research in this field.
