Scientists from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology discoveredIt turns out that mothers who engage in high-intensity exercise while breastfeeding are able to transfer to their children a special hormone adiponectin, which improves metabolic regulation. Research results published In the journal Frontiers in Nutrition.

For the study, researchers analyzed 240 breast milk samples from women with varying levels of physical activity after completing two workouts and during a restful wakefulness period. The analysis showed that mothers who performed high-intensity interval training had increased concentrations of the hormone adiponectin in their breast milk.

This hormone regulates the body’s metabolism and provides the energy and substances the body needs to function. It is stated that low levels of this hormone are associated with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.

According to researchers, adiponectin can be absorbed in the intestines of breastfed babies. When exposed to this hormone, the functioning of children’s metabolism changes for the better. Especially for babies whose mothers transfer adiponectin to them through breastfeeding, their risk of developing obesity and diabetes decreases as they grow older.
