TASS special correspondent on the ISS takes command of the station

TASS special correspondent on the International Space Station, Oleg Kononenko, commander of the Roscosmos cosmonaut corps, took over command of the ISS from Danish European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Andreas Mogensen. This was reported on the Telegram channel “Roscosmos”.

The Dane gives the Russian the symbolic key to the station. The ISS crew then traditionally rang the ship’s bell.

Kononenko will manage the station until the end of September 2024. During this period, it will increase the world record for total stay in space to 1110 days.

On March 11, the Crew Dragon spacecraft with the crew of the Crew-7 mission (NASA astronaut Jasmine Moghbeli, ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen, JAXA astronaut Satoshi Furukawa and Roscosmos cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov) is scheduled to depart the ISS to return to Earth.

Russian cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin reached To the ISS on March 4 as part of the crew of the Crew-8 mission. NASA astronauts Michael Barratt, Matthew Dominic and Jeanette Epps came to the station with him. The Falcon-9 launch vehicle containing the Crew Dragon spacecraft was launched from the John F. Kennedy Space Center (USA, Florida).
