A hamburger restaurant alcoysomewhere in Benidormanother restaurant moraira or somewhere hip and beachy in the state’s capital. Alberto Chicote Visited various points during various parts of Alicante ‘A nightmare in the kitchen’ and the result of the Madrid chef’s time in the region did not always produce the results that the owners and the chef expected.
Below you can discover which locations appear on the popular show Sixth and if the famous restaurants and bars are still open or closed (some had happy endings).
Moraira (‘Da Vinci’ Restaurant / ‘New Da Vinci’)
currently restaurant moraira What was revealed in the first season of ‘Kitchen Nightmare’ is still happening closed. The venue was unable to overcome the difficulties it had in contacting Chicote and was forced to take down the curtains years ago (the program was broadcast in 2012). Owner Rafa Soler explained to Vertele after the closure that Chicote had removed international cuisine from the menu, so customers were moving away: “Nobody wants to eat rice cooked with vine shoots”. His son explained that the real problem with ‘Da Vinci’ was the lack of fair dealing between those responsible and the deterioration of relations with his father: “We were doing great, but I did everything and did my part. The father said, “He was going to the party.”
Alcoy (Restaurant ‘La Hamburguesía’ / ‘La Broqueta’)
One of the programs best remembered for fights, screams and bizarre situations was recorded in Alcoy, specifically the old ‘La Hamburguesía’, which was renamed ‘La Broqueta’. He had to endure disdain and insults in the local Chicote (famous “Are you stupid or what is your problem?” from the owner’s husband to the famous chef). The recording became so tense that the program began to reconsider whether to continue or leave it at a loss: they did not, but despite all the work it did not continue and ‘La Broqueta’ also closed ( transferred).
What is interesting is that the transfer of this property took place before the program was broadcast, as can be seen from the online advertisements of the owner of the property, Clara and her husband: «Hello, we have a restaurant in Alcoy called La Broqueta that we want to transfer, which means it will be featured in Alberto Chicote’s television program Pesadilla en la cocina in late February-early March. 3 zone facilities; There is a dining room for 45 people, a children’s area for 25 people and an internal terrace for 35 people. We were recently renovated by Alberto Chicote (photos can be seen on Facebook), fully equipped with refrigerators, freezers, gas stove, deep fryer, 3 large TVs and 5 air conditioners, cafeteria, building rented for 700 euros per month and 175 euros for the Terrace.
Benidorm (‘Port’)
Unpleasant scenes with “surprises” after opening the fridge and examining the kitchen storage: Chicote had some rather unpleasant experiences while passing through ‘El Puerto’ in Benidorm. Especially for the cook whose rude and despotic attitude doesn’t help things move forward (or at least peacefully). Alberto Chicote believed that the best thing for the business to survive was to find another professional in the area to take care of the kitchen, and so it was: the establishment remains open to this day.
Alicante (‘Hot Beach’ / ‘Golden Beach Alicante’)
HE Gold Beach Alicante It was announced on social media that it was closed after the ‘Nightmare in the Kitchen’ experience in 2018. However, they reported that three more restaurants remained open with the same owners after the business closed. They announced on social media that the best thing they could get out of the program was “amazing and delicious food.”
