Doctors at the Tula Regional Hospital saved the life of a patient with Lyell syndrome, a severe allergic reaction. This has been reported page OKB is on the social network VK.

The 28-year-old young man was admitted to the intensive care unit of a local hospital, but doctors suspected that he had Lyell syndrome and recommended he be transferred to OCD. This severe allergic reaction, also known as scalded skin syndrome, causes a rash, peeling of the skin with slight friction, and toxic-allergic damage to the heart, liver, abdominal organs, and kidneys.

The patient’s symptoms appeared after acute respiratory viral infection and included rash with painful blisters, fever up to 39 degrees, and lesions in the eyes and oral mucosa. The efforts of resuscitators and pulmonologists saved the man’s life.

“More than 1000 patients are discharged home from the department during the year, more than 50 of them suffer from various types of allergies. However, such severe patients with widespread skin lesions are rare. Tula Chest Diseases Department Head Arsen Basilaya said, “I would like to add that beds and trained personnel for the treatment of patients with such disorders and allergies are available only in our chest diseases department, so all seriously ill patients and cases pass through our department.” Regional Clinical Hospital.

Doctors also added that the patient had no predisposition to Lyell syndrome. He is currently at home and in stable condition.
