Polyps (tissue formations) in the gastrointestinal tract, directly adenomatous polyps, can be very dangerous, they need to be removed as quickly as possible to avoid the risk of developing cancer. Endoscopist Caroline Nilus told the publication about this “Doctor Peter”.
He explained that adenomatous and hyperplastic polyps, as well as inflammatory polyps and pseudopolyps, are most commonly seen in the colon.
According to Nilus, polyps in the stomach area usually do not show themselves in any way, their presence is often discovered during a doctor’s examination performed for other reasons. In this case, chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer, Crohn’s disease, colitis can cause the appearance of polyps.
Large polyps block the intestinal lumen, which causes specific discomfort to the person: nausea, vomiting, feeling of excessive tension, stomach fullness.
