The strongest flare of the last seven years occurred on the Sun. This was reported by RIA News With reference to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“The recorded radiation flux from the Sun reached approximately 1 kilowatt per square kilometer; this is only 2-3 times lower than record levels recorded in modern history. The laboratory noted that the solar flare was classified as X6.3 and was therefore the largest eruption since 2017, when the last strong events of the previous activity cycle occurred.
The solar cycle continues for 12 years, and during this time solar activity may weaken or intensify – but the maximum of the current cycle will occur in the period 2024-2025. The current strong outbreak occurred between 1 and 2 am Moscow time.
