Chinese tai chi exercises help hypertension better than aerobic exercises. This has been shown by a study published in the journal. JAMA Network Open.
Previous studies have shown that aerobic exercise (which increases breathing and heart rate) and tai chi exercises can prevent the development of hypertension in people with pre-hypertension.
In a new study, scientists decided to compare the two approaches. The trial involved 349 volunteers with pre-hypertension. For a year, half of them did tai chi four times a week and the other half did aerobics. The duration of the lesson was one hour.
Volunteers in the tai chi group experienced an average decrease in blood pressure of 7.01 mm Hg. Art. Compared to 4.61 mm Hg. Art. Volunteers from the aerobic exercise group. They were also less likely to develop hypertension. The results mean the Chinese martial art tai chi, a form of wushu, may protect against life-threatening cardiovascular diseases, including heart attack and stroke.
Previous scientists I learnedReplacing regular salt with potassium salt can reduce the risk of hypertension by 40%.
