Scientists from Omsk State Medical University (OMSMU) have developed and patented special gel compositions that prevent the development of caries. This was reported by RIA News.

Omsk State Medical University has created a series of gel compositions aimed at preventing the formation of caries and stopping the initial stage of the disease. Currently the line includes 10 compositions; It is planned to patent the 11th dental medicine in the near future.

According to Galina Skripkina, head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry of Omsk State Medical University, the developed preparations are not ordinary toothpastes, but medicinal compositions for a course of treatment prescribed depending on the clinical situation. patient’s age.

Skripkina noted that the protective products developed combine incompatible things: a three-component gel containing fluoride, calcium and phosphorus, designed for home use and work at a professional level in the dentist’s chair.

The course of treatment with new drugs is carried out twice a year. Its duration is two to three weeks. This is enough to maintain an optimal level of mineral metabolism in the oral cavity for six months.

According to scientists, the gels developed have not only preventive but also therapeutic effects. Omsk State Medical University emphasized that the effectiveness of the drugs has already been proven laboratory and clinically.
