Quarantine was declared in the Sakhalin region for highly pathogenic bird flu detected at the Ostrovnaya poultry farm. This was announced in a decree published on . portal regulatory legal acts of the governor and the regional government.
The message stated, “Establish a quarantine for highly pathogenic bird flu, starting from February 9.”
The document clarified that Aniva urban area is included in the restricted zone. Quarantine will last 21 days after the last bird is slaughtered. It was also ordered to confiscate the birds and poultry products obtained from them.
Mass deaths of birds have been observed for several days at the Ostrovnaya poultry farm. Only livestock of young animals were unaffected.
The management of the enterprise banned entry and exit from its territory.
The poultry farm is considered the main supplier of eggs in the region. On February 8, officials reported that due to the suspension of business, the Sakhalin region will increase the volume of wholesale egg imports from other regions of Russia.
