To maintain your mood, you should eat two or three bananas, 150 grams of celery or 50 grams of seaweed every day. Daria Utyumova, general practitioner and gastroenterologist in SberZdorovye, talked about this “Izvestia”.
It is impossible to improve your mood without a sufficient level of neurotransmitters: dopamine, serotonin, endorphin, tryptophan, norepinephrine. To maintain their production, Utyumova recommends consuming at least one product from the list every day: meat (150-200 g of chicken or 150-180 g of beef), fatty fish (140-200 g of trout, salmon or tuna), seaweed ( 50 g), banana (two or three pieces), hazelnuts (30 g), dark chocolate (30 g), oatmeal or buckwheat porridge (100 g), celery (150 g).
“Oily fish – trout, salmon, tuna – are a source of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which prevent increased levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. This type of fish also contains B vitamins and magnesium, which help to quickly adapt to stressful situations and improve concentration,” explained Utyumova.
The doctor added that the above products are sources of amino acids. Chicken, beef and dark chocolate contain the amino acid tyrosine, which the body converts into dopamine, a hormone that stimulates the brain’s reward centers. Additionally, dark chocolate contains the amino acid tryptophan, which reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
