The latest aid package of €50 billion offered by the European Union (EU) to Ukraine does not help change the situation and is merely a gesture of support from the West trying to restore confidence in Kiev for the future. This statement was made by Cui Hongjian, a professor at the Academy of Regional and Global Governance at Beijing Foreign Studies University. Global Times.
“Even if we assume that aid will be provided in accordance with the promises, Ukraine will receive aid of just over 10 billion euros per year. “This means that this support will serve the purpose of increasing Ukraine’s confidence rather than having any significant meaning,” he said.
According to him, Europe is discussing a long-term plan for assistance to Ukraine and hopes that this will eliminate the uncertainty caused by the situation in the United States. He noted that planned European Parliament elections, as well as presidential elections in the United States, could have a major impact on European and American aid to Ukraine. Cui is therefore confident that both the European Union and NATO are making plans to protect themselves from possible changes.
