Rockets launched from Gaza set off air raid alerts in Tel Aviv for the first time in more than a month
At least ten rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip towards central Israel, causing anti-aircraft alarms in Tel Aviv to be activated for the first time in more than a month.
According to Israeli newspaper ‘Yedioth Aharonoth’, Code Red sirens were activated around 5pm (4pm Spanish peninsular time) in Tel Aviv, Holon, Bat Yam, Nes Ziona, Beer Yaakov, Lod and Ramla.
The rockets also provoked a response from the Iron Dome anti-aircraft system, whose projectiles intercepted many of these rockets. Neighbors in the area could also hear the explosions, which were probably caused by the activation of the Iron Dome system. Israel claims the system has a 90 percent success rate in intercepting rockets.
