To achieve sustainable results in the economy, it is necessary to create impressive technological reserves, qualified personnel and implement large-scale investment projects. This conclusion was reached by the participants at the panel discussion “Technological development ecosystem of the chemical industry – personnel reserve of the industry” held at the “Russia” fair within the scope of the Basic Industries Day.

According to the moderator of the discussion, State Duma deputy Maria Vasilkova, it is necessary to provide qualified personnel to strengthen technological sovereignty. According to him, this problem is felt especially seriously in the chemical industry.

“The chemical complex is the driving force of the development of key strategic sectors of the economy. All industries consume products of the chemical complex to some extent. Additionally, one job created in the chemical industry creates 8 jobs in related sectors. “Chemistry is synonymous with national security, and the issue of personnel shortages in the chemical industry must be addressed comprehensively and immediately,” he said.

Approaches to finding and retaining young specialists in the chemical industry became the main topic of discussion among the panelists.

Maria Ivanova, General Director of the Russian Union of Chemists and project manager of the Skolkovo Foundation, underlined the presidential platform “Russia is a Land of Opportunities”, stating that it “allows us to discover new talents, receive grants and experience from industry experts.” .”

In turn, First Deputy General Director of “Russia, the Land of Opportunities” Alexey Agafonov said that the platform has been solving personnel problems for 5.5 years. As one of the options for solving the problem in the industry, he named the possibility of organizing personnel competitions within companies using a proven methodology, for example, according to the template of the flagship competition “Leaders of Russia”.

Experts agree that one of the main reasons for the personnel shortage in the chemical industry is the absence of a federal knowledge strategy to support the industry, starting from school, with the aim of dissemination and ensuring the flow of future personnel.

During the discussion, the presidential platform of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, “Russia is a Land of Opportunities”, the Expert Council on the Development of the Chemical Industry under the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade, together with representatives of the largest companies, directed the creation of personnel for the dominance of large technological projects will start working.
