The launch of the American cargo ship Cygnus, managed by Northrop Grumman, to the International Space Station (ISS) is planned to take place on January 29. Reported by National control United States Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
“NASA, Northrop Grumman and SpaceX are planning the next launch to send scientific research materials, food and equipment to the ISS on Monday, January 29, at 12:29 Eastern Time,” the statement said. It is stated that the launch will be held at 20.29 Moscow time.
The spacecraft will be launched into orbit by the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle. The launch will take place from Cape Canaveral Space Center in Florida.
The spacecraft is scheduled to dock with the International Space Station on January 31.
It is stated that the cargo to the ISS was delivered by the American side with Cargo Dragon ships.
However, when Cygnus returns to Earth, it burns up in dense layers of the atmosphere along with debris from the international space station.
Previously, NASA had launched its first mission to the metallic asteroid Psyche to find out if it had an exposed core of an early planetary building block from the solar system’s inception.
Also scientists clarified Composition of samples from asteroid Bennu obtained during the OSIRIS-REx mission and delivered to Earth in late September.
Cygnus is an American automated cargo resupply spacecraft. It was developed by the private company Orbital Sciences Corporation as part of the Commercial Orbital Transportation Services program. It was intended to deliver cargo to the International Space Station (ISS) upon completion of the Space Shuttle program. The ship’s design does not allow for the return of cargo to Earth.
Previously, on the Cygnus ship flying to the ISS it did not open a solar panel.
