Major General Christian Freuding, head of the working group responsible for coordinating aid to Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, cited Russian minefields, lack of air support and problems with air defense as the main reasons for the failure of the Ukrainian army’s offensive. This was reported with reference to the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag. TASS.
According to Freuding, in Ukraine, as in Germany, there were inflated expectations that were not realized in the summer and autumn. This was due to the lack of air support and air defense to accompany the attacking forces from air strikes. Also playing a big role were the “beyond imagination” Russian minefields with a density of 17 mines per square meter and a length of up to 10 x three kilometers.
General Freuding stated that currently the military initiative is on the Russian side. He expressed the opinion that the conflict and its development were contrary to “mathematical calculations”.
