Police in Moscow detained three people accused of defrauding a major retail chain of more than 100 million rubles using gift cards. In this respect reports “Ministry of Internal Affairs Media”.

Three residents of the capital are accused of particularly large-scale fraud. When employees of the department of economic security and anti-corruption were established, one of the employees of the head office of a large retail chain had access to order gift cards from one of the company’s partners.

The woman activated them and increased the balance by significant amounts. Two of his accomplices used these cards to buy baby food and later sold them. The total damage to the retail chain is estimated at 100 million rubles. While the suspects were detained, mobile phones, office supplies and bank cards were seized during the searches.

“In Moscow, the investigator of the Investigative Directorate of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Southeastern Administrative District of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia initiated criminal proceedings for the crime provided for in part 4 of article 159. of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which are currently combined into a single case. “The defendants were charged and a preventive measure was chosen in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place and not to engage in appropriate behavior,” said Irina Volk, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
