Swimming in cold water and taking cinnamon extract can significantly lower blood sugar levels in diabetic patients. This has been shown by a study published in the journal. Nutrition and Diabetes.

Resistance training has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity, lower glucose levels in people with diabetes, and improve the entry of glucose into cells.

In the new study, scientists conducted an experiment on 8- to 10-week-old mice fed a high-fat diet. They were divided into seven groups of 13 people. In one of them, the animals lived as usual and served as a comparison group. In others, mice were given cinnamon extract or diabetes medication and swam in cold (5°C) or warm (35°C) water for eight weeks. Researchers tested different combinations of interventions.

Swimming in cold water combined with cinnamon consumption significantly reduced blood sugar levels in diabetic rats, improved sugar transport in the body, and increased insulin sensitivity. These improvements were accompanied by a decrease in the production of TBC1D1 and TBC1D4 proteins, which are closely associated with reduced insulin sensitivity.

Scientists believe that taking cinnamon extract along with swimming in cold water may be an effective addition to standard treatment.
