“Russian science is getting younger. Statistically, a young scientist was considered a person under 39 years of age. And we see that this group has experienced significant growth since 2010. In the period from 2010 to 2022, the share of young scientists under the age of 39 increased from 35.5% to 44.1%. It is also very important that there will finally be an increase in the number of young scientists under the age of 30 in 2022. In all previous years, the group up to 39 years old was increasing, while the group up to 30 years old was decreasing,” Falkov said.

In terms of the total number of personnel involved in research and development, Russia ranks sixth in the world: currently the total number of Russian researchers is 669 thousand 870 people. Falkov attributes the “revival” of science and the increase in the number of scientists to systemic measures of the state.

“Scientific activities have been steadily popularized for several years. On the other hand, measures have been developed to attract young people to science, and we have created many youth laboratories. An important role in this was played by a program in which leading scientists from abroad and Russia came to Russian regions, formed large teams, led them and received mega grants of 15 to 100 million rubles for this. once a year,” Falkov explained.
