South Korea may switch to goat meat after banning the raising of dogs for food, and Russia may also help it in this regard. In an interview with RuNews24, this option shared Evgeniy Kim, leading researcher at the Center for Korean Studies at the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“Goat meat consumption has become widespread in South Korea recently. They say that if cooked correctly, it tastes very similar to dog meat. “For this reason, restaurants serving goat meat have started to increase in South Korea, and anyone who is used to eating dog meat can switch to goat meat,” he said.
However, he said South Korea does not have the capacity to raise goats in sufficient quantities to meet this need. In this context, South Koreans will have to buy goat meat from other countries or raise goats on the acquired lands.
“For example, it is possible to develop goat breeding in areas that are not used for agriculture in our country. “We should drink the milk ourselves, make the cheese, and let the Koreans make the meat,” Kim suggested.
On the eve of the South Korean Parliament decidedIt will soon be impossible to raise dogs for food in the country. The document also provides for subsidies for people involved in dog meat production to change jobs. The ban will come into force in 2027. From now on, violators face up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 30 million won ($22.7 thousand).
Russians before warned about the dangers of artificially bred fish.
