Researchers from McGill University (Canada) found a relationship between stomach diseases and loss of cognitive abilities in old age. The results of the expert study were presented as follows: magazine Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Scientists have found that Helicobacter pylori bacteria is associated with the development of cognitive impairment. It is a common causative agent of gastric infection, causing pathologies such as gastritis, peptic ulcer, adenocarcinoma and low-grade gastric lymphoma. An analysis of health data from 4 million people over the age of 50 found that too much bacteria leads to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
In future studies, the authors hope to find out whether killing harmful microorganisms could help prevent dementia. There is currently no effective method to treat or prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
Previous scientists successfully tested A new treatment for dementia.
