With the approach of December and the New Year’s holiday, demand for tangerines increased by 67 percent. The leaders were citrus fruits from Türkiye, Morocco and China. This is shown by a study by SberMarket, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
The most popular species was the leafy tangerine, and demand increased by 162 percent compared to autumn and 248 percent compared to December last year. The next position was taken by selected tangerines – purchased 69% more often.
According to the research, Russians are increasingly preferring orange and tangerine hybrid clementines, whose sales increased 50 times compared to autumn and 10 times compared to last year.
The highest demand came from Turkey for tangerines. Demand for them increased by 55% in December, accounting for 13% of all tangerine sales that month. Citrus fruits from Morocco ranked second. On New Year’s Eve, sales increased by 159%. Tangerines from China took the third place, South Africa took the fourth place and Abkhazia took the fifth place.
