The Volgograd garrison court convicted five soldiers who bribed the acting battalion commander to avoid repeated participation in a special military operation. The newspaper reports this “Kommersant”.
While making the decision, the court took into account the requests of the military prosecutor’s office to change the nature of the crime charged against the four defendants to a less severe one. The prosecutor’s office did not make such a proposal regarding the fifth defendant. He received the harshest punishment – two years in a general regime colony and a fine of 750 thousand rubles, five times the amount of the bribe.
The remaining defendants escaped with suspended imprisonment and fines ranging from 100 thousand to 750 thousand rubles.
The officer accused of accepting bribes actively cooperated with the ICR investigation, and there is no information in the publication that a criminal case has been initiated against him.
