Zelensky expects EU to make “reasonable decision” to grant candidate status to Ukraine

At a press conference in Kiev with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Zelensky referred to the leaders’ summit on 23 and 24 June following the European Commission’s report on Ukraine’s candidacy. Most member states must decide unanimously whether to grant Ukraine candidate status to the EU.
The Ukrainian president hoped that this summit would be “a historic session of the Council of Europe with the logical conclusion of a decision supporting Ukraine’s candidate status”. “This is a decisive moment, not just for Ukraine, but for the European Union and the entire continent of Europe.
