Patients with vulvar cancer are often bothered by itching, burning, and pain in the vulva and perineum. Anton Ivanov, oncosurgeon, chemotherapeutic surgeon, candidate of medical sciences, director of the Mamma clinic, told socialbites.ca.
The disease develops slowly, and often the symptoms listed above are the first signs of the beginning of the pathological process. According to Ivanov, in later stages there may be ulcers or abrasions that are red or white in color.
“Also, the abrasion and ulcer may not heal within a month. “Also, sometimes women complain of purulent, bloody discharge that is unrelated to menstruation,” Ivanov said.
The oncologist stated that vulvar cancer is rare. It mostly affects women of the older age group – after 65 years, but there is also a group of patients in whom this disease is detected earlier – after 50 years.
“It usually occurs in women with atrophic changes in the external genitalia and in women infected with human papillomavirus. HPV is sexually transmitted and is one of the main factors that trigger the development of the disease,” said the oncologist.
Earlier Ivanov announced anticancer coffee effect.
