The late Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Mikhail Marov until the end of his days had a “clear mind” and was an “all-knowing” person in the field of astronautics. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Yuri Balega told socialbites.ca about this. He noted that his death was a great loss for Russian science and the space program.

“Mikhail Yakovlevich Marov is a living legend. This was a man who knew everything about astrophysics, astronautics and matters related to the exploration of near and far space. He recently wrote a wonderful book, which I read with pleasure and re-read on astrophysics in general. This is a big loss. Of course, the years took their toll, but he had an incredibly clear mind. At the age of 90, he could comment on serious scientific issues that even young people could not master. So this is a big loss for all our space issues connected with the work of the Roscosmos scientific program. But naturally this is a loss for all our great Russian science. I am also an astronomer and I am proud to have known him closely. Communicating with such a person enriches all humanity. He was a very great man. “May he rest in peace,” he said.

Academician Mikhail Marov, who was at the origin of the Soviet program to study the Moon and planets in the Solar System, died on November 30 at the age of 91, reported Columnist Natalya Vedeneeva on Telegram channel MK.ru.

Mikhail Marov also participated in programs in which the USSR sent spacecraft to the Moon, Venus and Mars.

According to Vedeneeva, the scientist was very upset by the failure of the Luna-25 project in August 2023. A 90-year-old scientist was admitted to the Central Clinical Hospital (CDH) after learning that the Luna-25 device had crashed. Academician after Russian spacecraft crashed into the surface of the Earth satellite called for draw serious conclusions. He believed that Russia had not yet withdrawn from the lunar race due to failure, but he was confident that the mission would have to be repeated in the near future.

Previously academician said “socialbites.ca” about his emotions after the landing of the Soviet spacecraft on Mars.
