The Government’s Committee on Legislative Activities approved the ratification of the Russian-Chinese cooperation agreement in the field of creation of the International Scientific Lunar Station, signed in November last year. He writes that this agreement covers not only the construction of the station but also the joint exploration of the Moon RBC Referring to the relevant government document.
The main participants of the project will be Roscosmos and the China National Space Administration, which may attract international partners in the future. The project is planned to be implemented in three stages.
In the first phase, Russian and Chinese missions will explore the lunar surface, determine the location of the lunar station and test technologies for safe landing. The Russian side plans to use the Luna-Glob spacecraft at this stage.
In the second phase, it is planned to create a control center for the Lunar Station, deliver cargo to the Moon, as well as assemble orbital modules for power supply, communications and transportation.
The third phase involves exploration of the Moon, expansion of the functionality of the Lunar Station modules, and cooperation with international partners to land a human on the Moon.
According to the agreement, goods transported within the scope of this project will be exempt from customs duties and taxes. Support will be given to industry regarding the creation of the Moon Station.
Moscow and Beijing plan to jointly build a lunar station, then explore the Moon and help other countries place humans on the Earth’s satellite.
