Privilege, excellence, digitization and sustainability. In order to understand the demands of the new tourist emerging after the pandemic, we must stay with these four key concepts. Awareness that our actions have an impact on the planet has become key to how the hotel industry, and particularly the luxury hotel industry, will respond to these new customer needs.
“Luxury guests spend six times the regular traveler’s budget and travel twice as much. “This fact allows hotels focused on this niche to allocate large investments from the start so that luxury accommodation is the most sustainable, fully integrated into the environment and creates a true connection with nature,” says Jordi Badia Llorens, CEO of Emmin Capital.
We’re talking about customers who want to travel more and are willing to invest or even increase their budget for sustainable accommodation. This was conducted by Expedia Group and Wakefield Research, with 81% of the population wanting to enjoy at least one vacation in the next six months, with 54% traveling and 59% are willing to pay more to make their trip sustainable. In fact, according to Weekendesk, bookings for premium hotel packages increased by 88% compared to the year before the pandemic. A figure that shows customers prioritize hotel privileges over price.
