Russians increasingly began to choose domestic routes for travel: the share of orders increased by 14.0% during the year, reaching 78.4%. This is shown by the OneTwoTrip study, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
Moscow has traditionally been a leader in travel in Russia: the capital accounted for 25.2% of the total number of orders. In second place is St. Petersburg with a share of 14.6%. Petersburg, Sochi, where 9.3% of tourists go on holiday in the autumn, is among the top three. Also on the list are Kazan (share – 3.0%), Yekaterinburg (2.5%), Krasnodar (2.2%), Kaliningrad (1.9%), Nizhny Novgorod (1.6%), Rostov-on-Don -Don (1.5%) and Vladivostok. (1.4%).
Compared to last autumn, the demand for hotels increased the most in Krasnodar by 22.2%, while hotels in Sochi, on the contrary, became less popular by 15.5%. The share of other cities remained almost unchanged.
This fall, travelers took mostly short trips: the majority, or 76.6%, of hotel bookings were for a period of 1 to 3 days. Most (21.9%) rested for about a week or 4-7 days. And 1.5% of Russians went on longer trips (8 to 14 days).
Istanbul remains the most popular foreign city among Russians: 10.7% of hotel bookings this autumn took place in Istanbul. This is followed by Dubai, where tourists go on holiday, with 5.2 percent, and Minsk with 4.6 percent. Also Yerevan (share – 3.8%), Bangkok (2.4%), Antalya (2.3%), Tbilisi (2.2%), Almaty (1.9%), Paris (1.7%) and Baku (1.6%) ranked first. .
The popularity of hotels in Bangkok (+84.6% compared to last autumn) and Baku (+60.0%) has increased significantly. Demand for holidays in Dubai also increased (+13.0%). However, they started to travel less to Antalya and Istanbul by 41.0% and 15.7% respectively. The shares of other provinces on the list remained almost unchanged throughout the year.
Most often, the autumn holidays of Russians abroad lasted from 1 to 3 days: 60.2% of orders were placed for this period. 34.1% of travelers stayed in hotels for 4 to 7 days, and 5.7% stayed for 8-14 days.
